the author of [Title Pending], interested in how [Title Pending] is made,
just plain interested, or bored. We don't care which.
What is [Title Pending]?
[Title Pending] is a webcomic based (loosely) on Xenogears,
a Playstation game from Squaresoft. Fei, Elly, Billy, Citan, and (most)
of the others are all main characters from the game. Of course, the way
they act in [Title Pending] bears little resemblance to their game performances.
What does [Title Pending] mean anyway?
[Title Pending] is not a temporary name, implying
a 'work in progress', 'under construction', or anything of the sort. The
site itself is a work in progress, but the comic is not. What you see today
will be similar to what you see for the forseable future. The name of the
comic is simply [Title Pending], and is the only name it has ever, or will
ever, have.
How is [Title Pending] made?
I'd like to give some long story about how each comic
is drawn by hand on A4 paper and scanned at 1024dpi and then colored and
placed in panels by Photoshop, but it's not. [Title Pending] is assembled
using a library of character 'icons', various poses of each member of the
cast. These icons were mostly collected from The
RPG Icons Archive.
Each strip is created using a template of one of the premade backgrounds I've put together or downloaded from other games and edited,
where the characters are placed in the poses desired. Once the dialog
is placed, the comic is finished save for some minor fiddling. The comic
is then transferred to PNG format and saved, for later posting.
The comics are typically uploaded almost every day.
Under ideal situations, a week or more are completed in advance, the current record
for most completed strips is from the opening of the Keenspace account
until about 3 months later, but most of those strips had appeared before,
on our old site.
So what software do you use?
Currently, we use a Adobe Photoshop 7.0 to
create the comic.
So what about the Author(s)?
Kwyndig creates the comic in his
spare time, when not sucked into his latest PS2 game. He also writes the
HTML (by hand, using Notepad), updates the site, and answers the email.
When not shouldering these herculean tasks, he GMs BESM, Alternity, and D20 system, works, and plays PC games. Kwyndig can be found lurking sometimes on IRC at irc.dumpshock.com (port 6667) #bulldrek. He also was a moderator for Bulldrek, but is not anymore, although anyone foolish enough to bug him about [Title Pending] there had best be ready for the 'initiation rituals'.
What was with the Mystery Grand Prize contest?
The Mystery Grand Prize contest simply started as a
way to boost numbers of readers of the comic and get a new name for Robo-Billy16.
Since it pretty much failed miserably at both (readership did not increase
noticeably, and only 4 entries were submitted) there will be no other contests.
The winner of the contest, Mayor Anime, got his own nifty collaborative storyline with me.
